Mission & Vision Statements

The Birth Attendants, as doulas, provide

educational, emotional and physical support to empower

incarcerated pregnant and post-partum women. Our

non-profit organization educates the community about the

struggles and triumphs of all marginalized pregnant and

parenting women.

We envision a just and safe world where women
are empowered to make choices for themselves
and their families, a world where services
are directed toward health and well-being and encompass support and restoration for families and communities.

In her free time she enjoys reading, running, painting, gardening, traveling, and educating herself about natural medicine, reproductive justice and the prison system.

Jennifer Hukee became an active member of the Birth Attendants in July 2007. She was drawn to the collectives work through her desire to help create and support women in solidarity. She holds a strong commitment in building community strength and awareness around systems of oppression/violence that act to constrict women’s life options.
Hukee facilitates meetings for Stonewall Youth, a local non-profit organization that offers support and advocacy to queer youth ages 14-21. She also attends The Evergreen State College where she focuses on Psychology and Social Justice.
